The narcissistic family functions as a cult. It comprises highly dysfunctional family members. It consists of enablers (often called flying monkeys), the chosen scapegoat at an early age, by the parent of care giver to be permanently demeaned and devalued throughout their entire life and to carry the (sins) of the toxic family. The Golden children are also part of the narcissistic family, which is a defective family unit. The narcissistic family leader is typically a parent, and at times a sibling.
The parent or caregiver is an expert at shifting and twisting things around by pitting certain family members against one another to keep them in line, just as a “cult” leader would do to their members.
The narcissistic parent notices one of the children’s certain qualities that are not easily twisted and able to bend as the others, and is a proven threat to the toxic parent; that child, at an early age, is the chosen scapegoat and the truth teller in the family!
Once the “scapegoat “is chosen, a “role” is attached to such a child and forever branded by the defective family. It is a “lifetime” experience that the chosen scapegoat will endure by the toxic, dysfunctional siblings of slander, blame, lies, and so much more, unless they break free in understanding the role that was placed upon them.
A Narcissistic, dysfunctional family operates and is identical to how cult member’s function!
